Alternatively, “Family” rooms are available which are fully self-contained studios with one double and single bed, plus a kitchen and bathroom. Rooms surround a shared patio and a picturesque city-centre garden to enjoy.

Facilities at the lodge include modems should you want to sort out your own internet, activity bookings, free lifts into town (although you are surrounded by some good eateries, which your hosts are happy to recommend) and a liquor store on-site.

Another option for private self-contained facilities, Sky Lodge is located on the Popua side of Nuku’alofa near attractions like Ancient Tonga, Popua Park and Fehoko Art & Tours.

12. Langakali (Tongatapu)

Also known as Diana’s Bed and Breakfast, Langakali offers a warm, authentic homestay experience in the heart of Maufanga, just a short stroll from Faua Wharf where ferries and boat trips depart.

This purpose-built guesthouse features multiple rooms with flexible configurations, the largest can accommodate two queen beds, perfect for families or groups travelling together.
